Austin Spurs forward JaMychal Green was named the D-League’s Player of the Month for December.
The award is the first of Green’s two-year NBA D-League career.
Green (6-9, 220, Alabama) helped the Spurs to a 9-1 month in December, recording point-rebound double-doubles in seven of 10 games. For the month, Green averaged 24.5 points on 56 percent (90-of-160) shooting to go with 11.3 rebounds. He recorded a season-high 32 points to go with 11 rebounds on Dec. 9, in a win over the Texas Legends and notched a 30-point outing on Dec. 14, when the Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Blue.
For the season, Green is leading the Spurs with 22.5 ppg, good for sixth-best in the league. His 11.1 rpg this season is good for eighth overall.
This is easily Green’s best season, and he has been a dominating force around the league. He has not played the last two games, likely due to a minor injury, but look for him to make a push for the D-League All-Star team.
