Inside the mind of Nando De Colo

Nando De Colo's rookie season has been somewhat quiet. Even on a low-key team as the San Antonio Spurs, you probably haven't heard much about De Colo's interests or tapped into his personality.

In a recent interview with BasketUSA.com, De Colo discusses various random subjects and you also can get the feel for how his teammates are off the court in San Antonio.

When asked about who he'd like to share a bottle of wine with, the player that might come to mind may surprise you.

I'm with Tony (Parker) on a daily basis, I know that he is a true enthusiast. He knows wine really well and every time he has the opportunity to drink a good bottle he chooses to do so. If he says that it is good, we can trust him.

While we know Parker has a nightclub and tends to enjoy his free time, it hasn't been too well known of him being a wine enthusiast. When you think Spurs and wine, that title usually goes to head coach Gregg Popovich and everyone else falls back to a far second place. Maybe Parker can be the Spurs' official wine spokesman after Pop decides to call it quits?

One of the interesting answers he gives is who he'd like to practice against. While some may think he'd answer to a current player, Nando goes old school and answers with former Chicago Bulls forward Scottie Pippen.Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

He was my favorite player when I was following the NBA after the Olympic Games of 1992 and during the years of the (Chicago) Bulls. People often asked me who were my heroes when I was younger and those were really the two players I loved.

You can tell Nando has taken that "Pippen-like" mentality to heart as he's thrived as a player who'll do the intangibles and has even been better defensively than what the team expected.

He's a player who knows his role with the team and knows how he can compliment the rest of the players without disrupting any chemistry on the court. That's something a lot of players tend to do the opposite of and the Spurs should be glad De Colo's mentality is just like the team's.

He also commented on who he'd start a band with from his teammates.

Patty Mills, he plays the guitar well  One evening he played some stuff for us and it was nice.

Mills has been the Spurs' number one fan off the bench with his popular towel-waiving antics and now it seems he has another talent he can be proud of. It seems the team is a tight knit group with their gatherings from wine tasting to some music after the games.

Maybe Nando will bring out more of his personality as the season rolls along this year.
