The San Antonio Spurs are in Los Angeles for back-to-back games against the local teams. Tonight, the Silver and Black take on Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers. The Spurs will look to break their three-game losing streak and get their first win on this five-game West Coast road trip. Leonard returned to the starting lineup Thursday night for the Clippers’ match-up against the Detroit Pistons. He saw limited minutes in the 96-91 win as he is returning from injury.

Fans in San Antonio still harbor a grudge against the former Spurs superstar and 2014 NBA Finals MVP. They’ll be paying extra attention to this game, hoping the Sochan The Destroyer re-emerges as their new star. The young Spurs squad will need to fire on all cylinders tonight if they hope to have some winning momentum going into Sunday’s game against the Lakers.

Spurs vs Clippers Preview

It’s been a tough road trip for the Spurs, losing three straight. In their last game against the Sacramento Kings, San Antonio played without Keldon Johnson, which showed in the third quarter. There were multiple chances for the Silver and Black to take the lead in the third quarter but turnovers and bad shots gave the Kings the advantage they needed to pull away with the game. Vassell matched his career-high of 29 points and Sochan had an amazing throw-down dunk that NBA players and fans alike still haven’t stopped talking about it. Hopefully, those day-to-day injuries for the Spurs will be okay to play, as they will need a strong effort from all four of them if they want to beat this tough Clippers team.

Leonard returned to action for the Clippers in their game against Detroit on Thursday. In 25 minutes Leonard had six points. For what it’s worth, on the shots he made, he looked just like vintage Leonard with fade-away jump shots and demanding the defense’s respect. Look for Reggie Jackson to give the Los Angeles a spark from the bench, as he scored 23 points in the game against Detroit. The Spurs will also need to find a way to stop Ivica Zubac from getting so many rebounds. He worked the boards for 18 in their last outing.
