2022 PBR Monster Energy Buck-Off at The Garden Preview

With the 2022 Unleash the Beast season so young, there isn’t a clear picture of who are the true contenders, and who are pretenders. That is not the case, however, for Cooper Davis, a champion in 2016, and Mason Taylor, a top-10 finisher eight times last season. After the first evening of the PBR Monster Energy Buck-Off at The Garden, the event appears down to these two after a strong showing from each of them.

Davis opened the competition with his first 90-point performance of the year, riding “Uncle Gangster to near perfection. The score was exactly what he needed, as he finished the day ahead of the current world standings leader. Taylor had a great run on Friday as well, riding “American Gangster”, only being outdone by Davis. The 22-year-old is off to a fantastic run in just his sixth season. He’s coming off of a career-best finish of 11th place in 2021.

The action continues on Saturday evening in Madison Square Garden. The 20 other riders in the field will attempt to chase down Davis and Taylor. Manoelito de Souza Junior and Chase Outlaw are just two top-15 riders in this young season that could still make a run at the PBR Monster Energy Buck-Off at The Garden.
