Game Preview

Ohio State came into the postseason limping a bit, but has avoided the upset most people believed would happen. Now the Buckeyes are playing with house money and if they pull off the upset of Villanova, they’ll have had an incredibly successful season. They’ll likely have to make this one a rock fight as well if they want the chance to win the game.

Villanova will try to control the game and slow it down unless they have an obvious transition opportunity. They only allow teams to score 63 points a game and score about 73 themselves. They also are an excellent free throw shooting and hit those freebies at the highest rate in the country at a 82.5% clip. They also shoot a solid 36.2% from beyond the arc.

Ohio State has EJ Liddell and Malaki Branham playing incredibly well right now. But those two are likely not going to be enough to beat a balanced Villanova squad. Zed Key, Jamari Wheeler, and Justin Ahrens will have to give the Buckeyes a little more than normal to advance to the Sweet 16.
