Since reclaiming his title at Bellator 250 in 2020, Mousasi is back to his winning ways, getting a TKO finish over John Salter at Bellator 264 last August. A champion in every league he’s fought, the Bellator veteran has a lot of power to go with his Judo black belt and years of experience in the ring. Though it has been a while, he knows the work it takes to climb. Dubbed “The Dreamcatcher”, he’ll look to put his next opponent, Vanderford to sleep for the first time in “The Gentleman”’s young career.
Vanderford’s approach will be different as he looks to hand the champion Mousasi his fourth loss by submission or survive to a decision. A national champion wrestler, he’ll aim to quickly take the fight to the ground. Should they stay standing, the height disadvantage for Vanderford combined with the relative lack of power would likely spell disaster. He’s taken his last three bouts the distance to a decision, but the real test will be how he handles the “championship minutes” of the fourth and fifth rounds.
