San Antonio Spurs restricted free agent Darrun Hilliard has signed in Spain with Saski Baskonia, according to a press release from the team.

Hilliard played on a two-way contract with the Spurs last season where he appeared in 14 NBA games and averaged 1.1 points in 6.8 minutes.

This summer, the Spurs wanted to bring Hilliard back on a two-way contract for next season, as they tendered him a $1.3 million qualifying offer. Had Hilliard accepted the qualifying offer, he would have played one more season on a two-way contract earning around $77K.

According to the press release from Baskonia, Hilliard signed a one year deal, which means he could try to make a comeback in the NBA next summer when more teams will have cap space.

The Spurs currently have 14 guaranteed roster spots filled though there’s still been no official word on whether Manu Ginobili will return or retire.

The Spurs can still fill six roster spots for training camp, but, before the regular season begins in October, the final roster needs to be trimmed to 15 players and two two-way players.
