Hill adjusting to new role, team

It’s a new season, and new team for former San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill but he is also experiencing an old situation now that he is with the Indiana Pacers.

Since being traded to the Pacers, Hill hasn’t exactly put up the numbers like he was with the Spurs coming off the bench. Here are Hill’s numbers as a member of the Pacers: 5-of-25 from the field, including 0-of-9 on 3-pointers, in two preseason and two regular-season games.

However, Hill says he has gone through this transition before and pointed out his time with San Antonio.

“When you come to a new organization, you learn new things,” Hill said. “It was the same way when I was in San Antonio. It took a minute to get used to things. You’ve got to get familiar where your shots are going to come from and get familiar with how the system works.”

Indeed it is a new system and team for Hill and he will eventually figure it out and be the player Spurs fans know he can. It wasn’t that long ago Hill struggled mightily when he was just a rookie with the Spurs. During his rookie season he struggled at the 2008 summer league with his shooting, making only 2 of 25 shots (8.0%), and one of six three-pointers (16.7%). Fast forward to his time with the Spurs and he proved that sluggish start to his career was not an indication of his value.

But as far as his current shooting woes, Hill says he is just praying to the basketball gods.

“Hopefully the basketball gods will start to give me a little love.”
