AT&T Center – Through two NBA Finals games against the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh is shooting 46% from the field, averaging 12.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, 3 steals and one block.
Bosh is also averaging two 3-point attempts and he’s yet to make one. Shooting 3-pointers is something Bosh said the Spurs want him to do Tuesday at the Heat’s shoot around in San Antonio.
“They want me to shoot threes,” said Bosh. “I could tell by looking at the film.”
“With this team it looks like that’s what they want me to do and I’m not going to do it,” continued Bosh.
For Bosh, he sees the Spurs giving him open 3-point shots as more of a psychological move.
“It’s a little mid game,” said Bosh of the Spurs’ tactics. “I know what they’re doing.”
Bosh said he’s going to try to score more inside the arc and work with the offense from there so he can help himself build an easier rhythm. He said he still might step out to the 3-point line if he thinks his team could use the scoring opportunity.
On his team winning by 19-points in Game 2, Bosh knows Game 3 will be much different.
“That rarely happens in the Finals,” said Bosh of the blowout win Sunday in Miami. “We’re going to have to come in here and earn it,” said Bosh on the possibility of winning Game 3.
Bosh knows the same Spurs team that got blown out in Miami will look different tonight. “They’re going to make adjustments offensively and defensively.”
The Spurs will need to make adjustments quickly as the Heat have taken their offense out of sync. Here are a few numbers to show how dominant the Heat defense has been.
Spurs playoff scoring: 101.6 points per game. Vs. Heat: 88 points
Field Goal Shooting: 47%. Vs. Heat: 41%
Assists: 23.6 assists. Vs. Heat: 16 assists.
Defensively, the Spurs are also having some issues.
Point allowed in playoffs: 92 points per game. Vs. Heat: 96 points.
Opponent Field Goal shooting: 42%. Vs. Heat: 47%.
Opponent 3-point shooting: 34%. Vs. Heat: 41%
