Hawks recall Tavares and Patterson from Austin

The Atlanta Hawks have recalled Walter Tavares and Lamar Patterson from Austin, the team announced on Sunday.

Both Hawks assignees, who were sent to Austin per the Development League’s flexible assignment rule, shined in last weekend’s back-to-back helping the Spurs start their season 2-0.

Tavares recorded a double-double in both of his starts on his way to averaging 16.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in 29 minutes of action. He also shot a blistering 71% from the field and 80% from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Patterson managed to stuff the stat sheet in his two starts averaging 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in just under 35 minutes per game. He also posted a shooting split of .455/.375/.636.

Both players are expected back in the D-League at some point, but with Atlanta being one of the 11 NBA teams without a D-League affiliate, there’s no guarantee that either Tavares or Patterson will ever step foot in Austin again.
