His life and career will be honored with “video commemorations and on-field presentations” according to the university. Hawaii Football vs New Mexico State Preview

Saturday is a rare second meeting of two teams during the regular season. Hawaii and New Mexico State both enter this rematch coming off of losses to the Nevada Wolf Pack in their respective previous games. On October 9th, the Aggies fell behind big to Nevada before an off-week last week. They trailed 52-7 entering the fourth quarter. Despite the deficit, New Mexico State finished strong with 21 points in the final frame. Hawaii also played Nevada in their most recent contest last weekend. They lost on the road, failing to score in the second half of a game that was close at halftime. The Wolf Pack beat the Rainbow Warriors 34-17 after leading just 20 – 17 through two quarters.

The September 25th matchup between New Mexico State and Hawaii has had a lasting impact on the Rainbow Warriors’ season, as they have been without the services of starting quarterback Chevan Cordeiro since then. Cordeiro suffered an injury in that contest, leading to freshman Brayden Schager getting starts against Fresno State and Nevada. A junior, Cordeiro should be back for Saturday.

In nine previous contests between the two schools, Hawaii has won them all, including the five played in Honolulu. A home-and-home series, September’s game was played in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
