Adam HangaFresh off inking a new four-year contract with Euroleague team Saski Baskonia, San Antonio Spurs’ 2011 draftee Adam Hanga spoke to baskonia.com about playing for the famed Spanish club and his recovery from knee surgery.

Hanga said he plans to work hard and recover as soon as possible following his operation on July 9. According to the club’s sports director, Hanga is recovering according to the timeline they set and should be able to stop using crutches within two weeks.

Hanga, who now plays for the same club where former Spur Fabricio Oberto and current Spur Tiago Splitter played, said he didn’t hesitate when told about the offer to sign.

"From the first moment I heard about the offer I did not think. I know this club and I know it has a lot of history. I think playing here all these seasons will be good for me, for my image and my future.”

As for playing in a more talented league, Hanga accepts the challenge, saying he should make a quick transition,

"It will be a great experience for me. At first it will be hard but I have to go step by step getting used to it. I think I will adapt quickly.”

If Hanga ends up making the jump to the NBA and the Spurs, Baskonia should be his last overseas destination. As Paul Garcia wrote about when Hanga officially signed with Baskonia, the NBA is clearly still in his sights, but he hopes to prove himself with Baskonia before making the move stateside.
