How many times have you read a headline like that and thought your favorite celebrity had passed away? While some of these players may no longer be in the physical realm, most are still very much alive, just not playing for the Spurs in 2018. 1. Dennis Rodman a.k.a. The Worm
Here is a controversial player if ever there was one. While most people remember Rodman as that colorful player of the late 1990s, he was a favorite of the fans in San Antonio because he was a fierce defender. Although he played for other amazing teams like the Chicago Bulls, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks, Rodman, who signed with the team right after reinventing himself as the NBA’s bad boy on and off the court, will always be near and dear to Spurs fans. Gotta love that bad boy image!
2. Tim Duncan – Good, Better and Best
There is something just so real about Tim Duncan when it comes to pro athletes. This is one man who always stayed rooted to his humble beginnings in Saint Croix, Virgin Islands. Tim is known to be a true philanthropist who spent a good deal of his earnings over the years on youth back home, giving them a hand up in the world. He is also well known for being a man of action and one of his personal quotes says it all: “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”
3. Steve Kerr – A Legend in His Own Time
As a guard having played two stints in San Antonio, from 1999 – 2001 and again in 2002-2003, Steve Kerr is number 6 in terms of NBA championships, two of which he won with the spurs; five wins as a player and three wins as a coach, which he now enjoys with the Golden State Warriors in California. Also notable is that Steve holds the highest percentage of 3-point shots of any player in NBA history. Is there any wonder why Kerr is such a fan favorite?
Where Are They Now?
While everyone knows that Steve Kerr is one of the NBAs most likeable coaches today, what are Rodman and Duncan doing with their time?
