Ginobili Seriously Injured?

I spent part of this afternoon playing around on the ESPN Trade Machine before going to class at 3:30. I returned from class with the intention of posting some of those trades. Instead, I see this news from Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

The San Antonio Spurs’ delay to release any specific information about Manu Ginobili’s right ankle injury has led some opposing GMs to speculate that the injury could be serious. Delaying the announcement until after the Thursday trade deadline would help keep the Spurs from losing any leverage in their ongoing talks.

Spurs officials announced only that Ginobili won’t join them on their road trip and their medical staff continues to study test results on Ginobili’s ankle.

This makes the Spurs talks with the New Jersey Nets for Vince Carter and the Milwaukee Bucks for Richard Jefferson so much more important. If Ginobili is out for the season, then finding a replacement is key or else this season is effectively over. I can’t help but wonder if this news had any effect on the Spurs last night in their disappointing loss to the Knicks and Tony Parker’s poor performance without his backcourt mate. Keep an eye out for more news.
