As reported here at Project Spurs, San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili has been courted by his former 
Italian team, Virtus Bologna, to join the squad during the NBA lockout.
And seeing how the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament is over, Ginobili now says he will make a decision in October on whether to join his former team or not.
“The call [they] (Bologna) made me moved me. I remembered many nice things,” said Manu
“I hope [the NBA lockout] issue settlles. I will decide in early October,” said Ginobili in a note to LU2 Radio Bahía Blanca.
Should Ginobili decide to make the move to Italy, he would join other Spurs players heading overseas due to the lockout. Steve Novak, Chris Quinn, Danny Green and DeJuan Blair all have made the move but should Manu take his talents to Italy, he would mark the first high-profile Spur to play overseas.
Manu did play heavy minutes for Argentina during their run at the FIBA Americas tournament and probably could use the rest for the upcoming season. If it does kick off. And as much as Manu is a competitor, Spurs fans would probably like to see him rest.
Let’s not forget, Tony Parker has also set a self-imposed January deadline on whether he would play in France with his team ASVEL.
