San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili and former player Fabricio Oberto have made the final roster for Argentina as the pre-Olympic qualifier in Mar del Plata is set to kick off this week.

For Ginobili, this was a no brainer. He led the team in scoring in exhibition games for Argentina and is the heart and soul of the squad.

As for Oberto, this is a surprise. He suffered an injury in his return to the court after dealing with a heart condition and chances of him making the final squad was shaky. Regardless, Oberto is on the squad and is a testament to his perseverance.

Here is what head coach Julio Lamas had to say:

“I chose the best twelve players because I can set up the best possible team and I have all the resources I need to play the tournament”

Joining Ginobili and Oberto will be Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, Carlos Delfino, Pablo Prigioni, Juan Ignacio Sánchez, Paolo Quinteros, Hernán Jasen, Federico Kammerichs, Juan Gutiérrez, and Martín Leiva.
