Ginobili: ‘Insurances will be achieved’

One of the major hurdles in this NBA lockout has been the issue of insurance for foreign players in the NBA hoping to play for their national team in pre-Olympic qualifiers.

For the San Antonio Spurs, this means insurance for Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tiago Splitter.

So far, Splitter is the only Spurs player to get insured to play for Brazil but for Parker and Ginobili, it still remains to be seen.

However, Ginobili has said insurance will be provided not only for him but for his fellow Argentinian teammates who play in the NBA – Luis Scola, Carlos Delfino and Andres Nocioni – who also are looking to represent Argentina in Mar de Plata for the pre-Olympic qualifier in August:

“Insurances will be achieved,” he said to Radio Splendid.

“The question is at how much and at what conditions.

“There are many countries that have NBA players. (But) I don’t doubt we will all be there.”

Ginobili playing in the summer has always been a topic Spurs fans hate to deal with. They do not want to see the heart and soul of the team suffer any injury or see him add more mileage to his aging body. They rather see him resting for next season – if there will be one.

Regardless, Manuis ready to help propel Argentina into the London games and takes great pride in representing his country. Something all of us can appreciate.

Good luck Manu!
