Ginobili comments on Spurs’ offseason acqusitions

Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs has had one of his most relaxing offseasons in quite some time.

For once, he has not had to play for his national team and has been given the opportunity to heal any nagging injuries he may have had. He’s been in Argentina but will return to San Antonio in the first week of September to get acclimated with the squad once again as they prepare for this upcoming season.

Ginobili will be seeing a couple of new faces and recently weighed in with his thoughts on the newest additions to the Spurs.

Via ESPN Deportes:

"As expected there was no big news. The team was seconds away from winning a NBA championship and it happened this way. Core is maintained and intact. Incorporating (Marco) Belinelli with the loss of (Gary) Neal gives us something we needed one more player to rotate with us in the position of one, two and three. With Belinelli, it's true that we lost the offennsive explosiveness we had with Neal, but a man who can have the ball in his possession, he understands the game and give us a big hand. In Pendergraph, unlike Blair, the reality is that we added height below the rim and DeJuan had not participated much in recent times. Hopefully not suffer so absences and the new players can quickly adapt to the team."

It looks like Ginobili approves of the additions and is looking for them to fit in quickly with the team. Some might argue that they upgraded at each position, even if the improvement is marginal. Look for the Spurs to get the new guys involved early on and from there hopefully they can fit right in with a team who has its sight set on a return to the NBA Finals.
