After much deliberation, San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has officially announced his retirement via his personal Twitter.

Drafted 57th overall by the Spurs in 1999, Ginobili would join the Spurs as a rookie for the 2002-03 season and go on to play 16 seasons with the franchise.

For his career, Ginobili averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in a role primarily coming off the bench. But while his career numbers aren’t exactly eye-popping, his career achievements make him a surefire future Hall of Famer.

Ginobili retires from the game of basketball as a 4-time NBA champion, a 2-time NBA All-Star, a 1-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year, a 1-time Euroleague champion, a 1-time Euroleague Finals MVP, a 2-time Italian league MVP, and a 1-time Olympic gold medalist.

We’ll have more analysis and reactions to Ginobili’s retirement coming up at Project Spurs.
