According to hoopsworld.com, the San Antonio Spurs will keep Thomas Gardner and send him to the Austin Toros. Gardner was the first cut from this season’s training camp due to a knee injury:
Thomas Gardner, who was released by the San Antonio Spurs in September, will stay in the organization’s backyard. R.C. Buford made it clear to Gardner that the team likes him and that he likely would have made the team if a previous knee injury that he sustained while playing overseas hadn’t acted up during camp. Gardner will spend next season with the Austin Toros at the urging of the organization and will hope to get a chance with the Spurs, who have the most NBA Development League call-ups of any franchise.
