CEDAR PARK – Game 2 of the Development League Western Conference Finals has been postponed due to condensation on the court.

No make up date has been announced yet, but with Game 3 originally scheduled for tomorrow, the remainder of Game 2 could be played as early as tomorrow, with Game 3 played after an extended break or at a later date.

The game will resume with 6:15 left in the third quarter, with the Austin Spurs leading the Los Angeles D-Fenders, 58-53.

“Obviously we have ice underneath and that’s going to happen,” Austin Spurs Head Coach Ken McDonald said after the game. “Player safety is the most important thing. I think the officials did a good job, and as coaches, we don’t want anybody hurt out here. We understand it’s an inconvenience.”

Players were slipping and sliding for a majority of the game, with the Cedar Park Center’s crew managing to take care of the condensation throughout the first half. But midway through the third quarter, the game would be held up by a 10 minute stoppage to mop up the floor once again. When play resumed, only 43 seconds elapsed before halting play a second time, as both coaches and officials agreed to postponement of the game.

Deshaun Thomas is your leading scorer for the Austin Spurs with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists. Brandon Fields and Youssou Ndoye have had tremendous starts to Game 2 with nine and eight points, respectively.

For the D-Fenders, center Justin Harper is leading all scores with 13 points. Vander Blue is struggling so far, shooting 2-for-8 on field goals and tallying seven points.

We’ll keep you updated on the conditions at the Cedar Park Center as more information is available to us.
