MISSISSAUGA – After a successful event in 2017, the G League announced Tuesday that their annual showcase will return to the Toronto area for a second consecutive year.

As the league continues expansion, the G League Showcase allows NBA clubs to scout all 26 minor league teams and their players over a four day stretch.

Just like last season, Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors G League affiliate, will host the event from Mississauga, Ontario. The event will run from Jan. 10-13, with each team playing two regular season games.

“We’re thrilled to work in partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and Raptors 905 to bring the NBA G League Showcase back to Mississauga,” said NBA G League President Malcolm Turner in a statement. “Last year’s event proved to be successful on and off the court, and I’m looking forward to another week of great basketball and community events in the Greater Toronto Area.”

The G League announcement only mentions the 2018 G League Showcase, but reports are that Mississauga will host the event for the foreseeable future.

Raptors Republic, which first reported the G League Showcase news in July, mentions that this is actually a two-year agreement. Mississauga will host the showcase in 2018 and 2019, with the option to re-evaluate the agreement after the 2018 tournament.

Full game and broadcast schedules will be released at a later date.
