After losing to Belgium last Thursday, Tony Parker and France made sure to secure a win when the teams met again on Sunday. France slammed the door on Belgium’s EuroBasket hopes with a 92-54 pounding.
In 26 minutes of play, Parker had 16 points and four assists. Nando de Colo once again looked impressive, scoring 12 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 66 percent from beyond the arch.
Ian Mahinmi only got into the game for six minutes, putting up totals of one point and two rebounds.
With the win, France qualified for EuroBasket 2009 and will begin play on September 7 against a Dirk Nowitzki-less Germany team. Visit the Euroleague website for the full schedule.
As we get closer to Spurs training camp, I’ll be hoping that Vincent Collet limits Tony Parker’s minutes. I doubt Spurs fans would mind seeing a little more of Nando De Colo, who has impressed this summer.
With as much talent as the French team has, they should have their sites set on winning EuroBasket, but they have had several letdowns, including losses to Finalnd and Belgium.
