Former Spur Robinson continues to make impact off court

It’s rare that a professional NBA player chooses to stay in the town he played in. It’s rare enough when a player stays in one town throughout their career.

Luckily for the city of San Antonio, former Spurs hall-of-fame center David Robinson decided to remain a resident of the Alamo City after his playing days were up.

There is no question about the impact he made while suited up in the silver and black, but he continues to do so now while his #50 hangs in the AT&T Center rafters.

Aside from his work with the Carver Academy, Admiral Center, his foundation and other philanthropic efforts, Robinson’s impact reaches those who likely didn’t even get to see him in his NBA prime.

Recently Robinson visited San Antonio Academy Chapel and inspired a young boy who wrote a letter and accompanying picture about the Spurs great.

The boy’s mother, @lesliemet on Twitter, sent out a picture of the letter thanking Robinson.

San Antonio was very fortunate to get the first pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, but we truly didn’t know how fortunate we were that Robinson continues to inspire us after his career and off the hardwood.
