Ex-Spur Horry says Lakers’ Fisher is long in the tooth

RHAt the recent ESPYS, there were a ton of athletes both past and present at the annual event. One was former San Antonio Spurs player Robert Horry.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Horry made some comments on the weakest link of the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I think they need another good point guard. No disrespect to Derek Fisher. But Derek is long in the tooth. I’ve been there, done that. I understand that. They need to get a point guard who can distribute the ball, get people in order and not be afraid to tell Kobe [Bryant], ‘no.'”

“Big Shot Bob” is a man with the rings to back up his comments. Horry won seven rings in his career: two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers, and two with the Spurs. Although Horry’s comments are just stating the obvious, everyone knows the Lakers’ weakest spot is the point guard spot.

And for Spurs fans, Fisher will always haunt their dreams with the infamous .4 shot.

Fisher; however, has five rings himself and is entrenched with labor talks as the President of the Players Union these days. And with the added pressure of the CBA negotiations, who is to say that stress hasn’t hastened the aging process.

Thoughts Spurs fans? Should the Lakers seek out younger legs at point guard or is a veteran like Fisher enough for Los Angeles?
