Former Spur David Lee Announces Retirement from NBA

Via Instagram Sunday, former San Antonio Spurs forward David Lee announced his retirement from the NBA.

Lee spent last season with the Spurs where he appeared in 79 games off the bench, averaging 7.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

At 33 last season, Lee had a productive season with San Antonio, but his playoff run was cut short after he suffered a left knee injury in the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

Lee retires at the age of 34. Over his 12 year career, he was drafted by the New York Knicks, where he made an All-Star team with the Knicks. Then, he spent time in Golden State, Boston, and Dallas before ending up in San Antonio last season. Lee was recognized as an All-NBA 3rd team member during the 2012-13 season.

Lee also made an All-Star team with the Warriors during his tenure there and he won a championship in their 2015 playoff run. Lee retires with career averages of 13.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
