SALT LAKE CITY – Bryn Forbes scored a game-high 28 points, leading the Austin Spurs to a 103-92 victory over the Salt Lake City Stars on Tuesday night.

Forbes, who is on assignment from San Antonio, had his best offensive performance of the season. He shot 11-for-15 on field goals (4-for-5 from beyond the arc) while tallying three rebounds, three steals and one assists in 35 minutes. His backcourt teammate Dejounte Murray had a solid 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals on the evening. Cory Jefferson added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Charles Garcia had 12 points, with Patricio Garino and Jarell Eddie adding 10 points each.

Austin went almost four minutes without a field goal to start the game before Murray hit a 3-pointer to give the Spurs an early 5-4 lead. Austin’s offense eventually stalled out, but a jumper and dunk by Murray to end the quarter gave the Spurs a 23-19 lead to end the first.

A 10-2 run started the second quarter for Austin as Forbes would score 12 of his 28 points in the frame to push the Spurs lead to double digits, before the Stars made it a seven point game before halftime.

Marcus Paige helped Salt Lake City match the Spurs offense to begin the third quarter, as the former North Carolina product dropped 10 points in the period, as the Stars still trailed by six.

A Da’Shonte Riley layup put the Stars within three points to begin the final quarter, but Salt Lake City would never regain their early first quarter lead, as they fell to the Spurs, 103-92.

Paige finished with 20 points for the Stars, with Tyrone Wallace adding 15 points and six rebounds. Jeremy Williams and Jermaine Taylor had 12 points each for Salt Lake City.

The Austin Spurs (6-9) have a tough back-to-back looming as they face the Reno Bighorns (4-10) at the Reno Events Center tonight in Nevada. Tipoff is at 9 p.m. CST.
