Christmas meals in the United States are more or less traditional. Turkey and Ham are big players on December 25th, but San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker took to the airwaves on RMC Sport.fr on Wednesday to discuss his Christmas, a big win over the Dallas Mavericks and playing on New Year's Eve among other things.
With two days off for Christmas, Parker said he spent time with his family and friends and instead of carving open a turkey, he opted for duck liver.
We had a good Christmas with family. The coach Pop '(Gregg Popovich, Spurs coach) gave us two days off, which is very rare in the NBA. I think he should be happy after the game against Dallas. It really is rare but it has been all enjoy and spend time with our families. It was a nice table in the French, with good food. There were my parents, my friends and it went well. We got a little fun with foie gras, wine, cheese. You let go a little over 48 hours. But I was reasonable.
Parker said part of his Christmas holiday was spent with teammates Danny Green and Patty Mills distributing gifts in different neighborhoods throughout San Antonio.
While the Frenchman may have had a nice two-day break for Christmas, the Spurs' schedule finds him in Brooklyn on New Year's Eve in a game against the Nets. Parker said he was lucky enough to be off the court for Christmas, and considering how big Dec. 31st is for the NBA, it's normal and certainly not the first time he's had to play on New Year's Eve.
While the holidays are usually a natural mood-lifter, the Spurs' big win over the Dallas Mavericks recently gave Parker even more reason to ring in the new year on a high note.
We put all our baskets to three points, we beat the record for the franchise. It is 20/30, which is very rare in the NBA. It was a day with the address and when we play like that, it is hard to beat. Now it's up to us to continue. t is always difficult to play after Christmas and I hope it will be okay for us.
Judging by their 20 point win over the Toronto Raptors, it's safe to say it's been more than ok. Parker and the Spurs will be looking for their fourth straight win tonight as they host the Houston Rockets.
