The San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers got the new year off at the AT&T Center with an East meets West showdown.
The Spurs took the lead early on and never let go. Though the 76ers made a small second quarter push, the Spurs just were doing a little of everything in statistical categories to maintain their lead.
First Quarter:
Stat Leader: Manu Ginobili with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Recap: Hot shooting got the Spurs going in the opening quarter. The Spurs shot a blistering 87.5% from the free throw line while shooting 47.6% from the field. Both teams were even with 10 points in the paint. San Antonio's defense held the 76ers to 34.8%. Philly was led by Jrue Holiday with seven points.

Second Quarter:
Stat Leader: Danny Green with 11 points, 3 rebounds.
Recap: The 76ers crept back into the game for a brief moment but the Spurs continued to lead on all facets of the game. The Spurs outshot the 76ers 45.2% to 37.5% for Philly. Spurs had more points in the paint with 24 to Philly's 20. Three Spurs scored in double-figure with Danny Green netting 11 points, and Duncan and Ginobili with 10 points a piece. Philly was led by Hawes with 10 points.
