Chelsea vs Palmeiras Club world cup final preview
The roster for Chelsea reads like an international all-star team. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is back with his club after helping his home nation of Senegal collect its first Africa Cup of Nations title last weekend. He rejoins Brazil’s Thiago Silva, Italy’s Jorginho, Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku, Denmark’s Andreas Christensen, and America’s Christian Pulisic, just to name a few.
The squad is the reigning Champions League titleholder and UEFA Super Cup champion. Chelsea is currently in third place in the Premier League standings and will play in the EFL Carabao Cup final against Liverpool in two weeks. With championships on the mind, they’re carrying momentum into Saturday’s match. Since the calendar flipped to 2022, Chelsea is carrying a 6-2-1 record, only losing to Manchester City 1-0 in January. They’ve outscored their opponents 16-5 in that stretch.
Palmeiras may not be wrapped up in all of the action that Chelsea is, but maybe that will help them by having a rather single focus. Conversely, the Brazilian league team hasn’t played in as many matches recently either. In fact, since winning the Libertadores final last November, Palmeiras has played in just five matches, going 4-1-0 while outscoring their opposition 9-1. In Tuesday’s FIFA Club World Cup semifinal, they cut through Al Ahly 2-0, taking down the club that beat them in the third-place match in last year’s tournament. Raphael Veiga and Rony will look to accomplish the difficult, scoring against Chelsea.

Chelsea vs Palmeiras score prediction
These two sides have enjoyed remarkably similar recent form. Both champions of their respective continents, neither actually find it particularly easy to score goals and base a lot of their success on a resolute defence.
Both teams will defend well and limit chances, while also likely creating very little in the attacking third. If that doesn’t get you hyped up for this match, then nothing will.
