Ex-Spur Vincent in jail for fraud

Former San Antonio Spurs player Jay Vincent has been jailed due to running a fake basketball team and charging people to try out. Vincent also traveled the country to further his illegal activity.

Former MSU and NBA basketball player Jay Vincent was jailed Thursday for continuing to scam people after pleading guilty to charges of fraud last year, according to an article by the Lansing State Journal.

“We indicated he might be engaging in additional fraud and felt it is pretty clear (and) evident he was writing false checks,” U.S.

Vincent also allegedly made at least $2 million on an Internet scam charging people to certify them as home inspectors.

Drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 1981, Vincent played for the Spurs in 24 games during the 1989 season averaging 9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and shot 41% from the field in 23 minutes per game.
