Ex-Spur Rodman pens children's book. No, really!

When you think about former San Antonio Spurs forward Dennis Rodman, quite a few things come to mind. On the court he was known as a fearless defender and a rebounding machine. Off the court, that’s a different story.

From dressing in drag, countless tattoos and piercings, his multi-color hair to his hard-partying ways, there is no doubt “The Worm” is one eccentric guy. So it comes to a wee bit of a surprise Rodman of all people in the world is coming out with a… children’s book. You heard me right.

The book is appropriately titled, “Dennis The Wild Bull,” is set to debut next month. Here is what is said from the book’s website.

“What excited me about this project is the fact that not only is Dennis a great guy, but he has accomplished things in his life many people never come close to achieving. The years of dedication and hard work that brought him to the top level is what I’m interested in conveying, and I believe it is going to spread a good message to our countries youth. Children are our future and Dennis has a lot of great lessons to convey so needless to say it’s not only going to be fun, it’s going to spread a positive message which is what children’s books are all about.”

O.K. so Rodman’s heart is in the right spot but I know I am not the only one to think this might have been a joke considering he has dealt with some internal demons throughout his life and that he doesn’t have such a glowing reputation off the court.

However, if this helps the Hall of Famer get his mind right and provide a creative, and positive outlet for him to get his personal life in order, then by all means he should continue writing children’s books.

Let’s just hope the book doesn’t show kids the best body spots to get tattoos.
