Duncan nominated for Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Well this was a no-brainer.

San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan has been nominated for the 2011 class for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame:

The Class of 2011 could have a basketball flavor. The recently retired Shaquille O’Neal played at Cole High School in San Antonio. He is joined by Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan and Texas A&M women’s coach Gary Blair, who won a national championship this year.

Duncan’s NBA resume is one which any professional athlete would love to have. From four NBA championships, countless NBA All-Star appearances, back-to-back regular season NBA MVP trophies, to being a class-act on and off the court, Duncan truly deserves this honor.

How fitting is it Nowitzki and O’Neal are nomintated in this class along side Duncan as they have been the premier big men in this era of the NBA.

Congratulations to Duncan and we all now his next nomination will be for the Basketball Hall of Fame once his storied NBA career comes to a close. Let’s just hope that’s not for a while.
