Does Rodeo Road Trip perfomance hurt Spurs’ playoff chances

The San Antonio Spurs have just 19 regular season games left on their schedule, and they are currently sitting in eighth place in the West with a 35-29 record.

Unfortunately for the silver and black, they didn’t capitalize on a chance to get themselves higher in the standings to have a more secure spot for the playoffs and they’ll have to battle it out to the end of the season to make sure their current streak of 20 consecutive seasons with a playoff berth isn’t snapped.

But, if you look at betting sites, their chances have likely not getting better after going just 1-7 on their annual Rodeo Road Trip, which marks the worst record since they’ve had an extended road stay while the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo takes over the AT&T Center. The Spurs are just three games out of fifth place in the Western Conference, so picking up wins on the road against teams like the Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets would’ve gone a long way to putting them in a better position.

There was also a very winnable game against the Toronto Raptors in which they lost in the final seconds. As it currently looks, if the playoffs started today, the Spurs would have a tough first-round matchup in store with the 42-18 Denver Nuggets, who are almost at full health and have given the Spurs problems this season.

But that matchup is no guarantee. The Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers are all within striking distance of the Spurs, and with a tough upcoming schedule against the Celtics and the Nuggets, the playoff picture could certainly change overnight.
