• Fox Sports Ohio says Tim Duncan and Boston Celtics’ Shaquille O’Neal still matter:

The Spurs and Celtics also know the postseason is a slow-it-down, grind-it-out and physical brand of basketball. And both teams possess rosters in line with that philosophy.

Duncan and O’Neal are still the anchors to that approach. Even now, and even though they aren’t as forceful as they once were, the two most dominant big men of the past decade really matter again.

• Former Spur Bruce Bowen’s spa in San Antonio, Yardley’s, recently closed for business but one of their clients is pretty upset after not being able to use a gift certificate to the spa:

“My daughter and I, every time we went we had a great experience. We really liked it. I mean, they really pampered you,” said Yardley’s customer, Karla Baker.

She said she was looking forward to her visit this year, after getting a $170 gift card from her husband for her birthday in November.

“I figure (that because) Bruce Bowen (is a) multi-millionaire, you know, he should make the $170 good without us having to chase him down,” Baker said.If the owners choose not to issue a refund, the Bakers may have little recourse.According to the secretary of state’s office, unlike with health spas, salon spas are not required to be bonded or insured through the state. OES designs and builds electronic control systems, including scoreboards. The company has done scoreboards for seven NHL teams, eight NBA teams and three NFL teams, as well as the John Labatt Centre.

Hogendoorn says many of the early orders were for high schools and small arenas, but in 2002 OES received a call from the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA, the first break into the big leagues. (ifpress.com)
