Prior to the season being suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 39% of Derrick White’s 3-point attempts were coming off pull-up 3s. The percentage of shots that are pull-up 3s White attempted were the most among any San Antonio Spurs player this season.

White was also knocking that difficult shot down with close to 34% accuracy.

I asked White about that shot prior to the season suspension, and he said for him, it was just about taking whatever was there.

“I was just trying to be aggressive. I don’t know how I was shooting before, it seems so long ago. Just be aggressive and knock down any look that I get, I wouldn’t think too much, just let it fly.”

White and Spurs guard Dejounte Murray also commented on what it’s like getting practice 5-on-5 again.

“You can’t really duplicate 5-on-5,” said White. “We love to play basketball, we feel comfortable,” he said of he and his teammates being on the floor again.

“Compete against everyone,” said White of team’s mindset right now.

“We’re going at it,” said Murray of the silver and black team scrimmages taking place at practice. “We’re just happy to be on the floor.”

“Just competing, competing, and competing,” said Murray of the team’s mindset.
