CP3 to New York?

It’s no secret to San Antonio Spurs fans, really skilled point guards have given the Spurs trouble during the championship era. From Stephon Marbury, Steve Nash to the Chris Paul led New Orleans Hornets team in 2008 that pushed the Spurs to seven games in the West-Semis with CP3 averaging a gaudy 24 points and 11 assists.

Well now the West may be a step closer to having one less elite point guard for the Spurs to worry about.

Paul is reportedly rumored in trade talks with him heading to the New York Knicks though he claims the trade rumors are just talk and something beyond his control. He seemed to deflect questions about the trade rumors, instead changing the focus of the conversation to him being happy the lockout is over and getting back on the court.

I don’t know if this trade will be feasible even if reports are true he wants to go to the “Big Apple” due to the Knicks only having Billups’ expiring contract as a the only solid trade chip. No matter how you look at it, New York just doesn’t have enough New Orleans would covet to part with Paul. And the Knicks will not entertain the idea of parting Carmelo Anthony nor Amar’e Stoudemire.

Any scenario involving a Paul trade will require a lot more than that to gain his services. Nevertheless, should he end up out of New Orleans, Spurs fans won’t miss playing him four times a year.
