Former Toros center and D-League All-Star Marcus Cousin will not be signed to a second 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz.
Cousin was originally signed on March 9 while four Jazz bigs were sidelined with injuries or health concerns. With Francisco Elson and Kyrylo Fesenko back, Cousin became expendable.
He averaged 1 point and 0.8 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game in his stay in Salt Lake City, but he found a way to make an impact and his work did not go unnoticed, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Cousin aided Utah while the team struggled through a recent 1-3 road trip and played through several key injuries. He teamed well with Jazz rookie forward Derrick Favors, and drew praise from coach Tyrone Corbin for his work ethic and big, bruising style of play.
Unless he is signed overseas, since many international teams are signing players with the playoffs coming soon, or is called up by another team, he’ll likely be back with the Toros, perhaps as early as tonight as they play they RGV Vipers on the road.
