AUSTIN – According to Chris Reichert, the Austin Spurs have traded the rights of returning player Bryce Cotton to the Oklahoma City Blue in exchange for Anthony Beane.
Beane was drafted in the second round (26th overall) of the 2016 NBA D-League Draft out of Southern Illinois.
As a senior, Beane averaged 19.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Salukis. Beane finished his collegiate career third all-time in scoring at SIU with 1,917 career points.
As for Cotton, the point guard was only with the Austin Spurs for six games last season before being called up by the Phoenix Suns. He would be released in January, but latched on with the Grizzlies for the rest of the season after injuries depleted Memphis.
The 24-year-old point guard played 23 games in the NBA over the last two seasons for the Utah Jazz, Suns and Grizzlies, averaging 3.8 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists.
Before that, Cotton was a member of the San Antonio Spurs summer league squad before joining the Austin Spurs in 2014.
Cotton finishes his time in Austin averaging 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 40 career games for the Spurs. He also had a career shooting split of .479/.457/.905 during his time in the D-League.
