Cory JosephAfter suffering a loss in their first game of the FIBA Americas Championship, Canada has now won their second straight game with an 84 to 62 win over Cuba, putting them in second place in Group A with one game two go in the first round.

Spurs draftee Cory Joseph played 25 minutes and ended the game with seven points and four rebounds. Through three games, Joseph is averaging seven points, and just over two assists and rebounds as part of Canada’s balanced offense.

Joseph, who has been inserted into the starting lineup for Canada has looked comfortable running Canada’s offense, something that should relieve Spurs fans who may have been weary of turning over backup point guard duties to a 20-year-old rookie.

Another Spurs draftee, Davis Bertans also played this morning in a 62-71 loss to Italy. Bertans played just five minutes but managed to score five points and grab three boards.

Canada will look to possibly take over the top ranking in Group A if they can get a win over Venezuela tomorrow. Bertans and Latvia will play Israel next on Sunday.
