Though he was released by the San Antonio Spurs early in the season, forward Da’Sean Butler still has a connection with the Spurs as he’s photo via: hillcountrynews.comnow a member of their D-League affiliate Austin Toros.

Butler was called to the Toros early after being released by the Spurs and it took him less than 10 games to get a spot in the starting lineup. In a recent interview with WVIllustrated.com, Butler talks about what’s like to play basketball again without any caution of his injury that sidelined him for almost two years.

“It’s great to be playing again,” Butler said before a recent game against the Canton Charge. “That’s the most important thing to me. I had a year and a half to watch when I was with the Heat and with the Spurs and coming down here [Austin] a little bit and watching them play then going back to the Spurs. I had a long time to watch and now getting the change to play – I just want to make the most of my situation.”

Butler continues to play in Austin and the Toros like the Spurs, are one of the enforceable teams in their league. Should an NBA team need a forward, Butler’s improvement might net him another chance in the NBA.
