Brazil demolishes Uruguay

TSIn the final opening game of the second round of the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament, San Antonio Spurs’ Tiago Splitter and Brazil demolished Uruguay 93-66 on Monday evening in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Brazil took a 25-16 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they used the fourth quarter to blowout Uruguay by 27 points.

Splitter finished with nine points, eight rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 21 minutes. Vitor Alves Benite led Brazil in scoring with 21 points. Brazil had four scorers in double figures as the win was through a combined team effort.

Uruguay was led by by Sebastian Vasquez’s 12 points and four rebounds.Uruguay struggled from behind the arc as they only connected on 7-of-22 three pointers.

Splitter and Brazil will face Panama Tuesday evening as they resume the second round of the FIBA Americas tournament.
