The San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers may have suffered stunning losses in their opening game of the NBA playoffs on their home court but the first top seeded team to suffer a home loss in the playoffs was the Orlando Magic who lost to the Atlanta Hawks this past Saturday.

Though Magic fans may be a bit nervous, former Spurs player Bruce Bowen says Magic fans should relax, take a deep breath and look to Spurs 2003 championship team for comfort:

“Orlando is going to win that series,” said Bowen, who made a guest appearance Monday morning on ESPN’s Mike and Mike radio show.

“We lost Game 1 in 2003 … and we won the championship that year,” Bowen said. “We lost to Phoenix in the first game and I remember it was like, whoa! …It’s about adjustments and we made the adjustments of getting back to basics and sometimes you need that as a wakeup call.”

Nervous Spurs fans should also listen to Bowen. Though the Spurs did lose to the Memphis Grizzlies in game one of the first round, if any team in the NBA can make the proper adjustments are the Spurs. San Antonio should bounce back to tie this series on Wednesday.
