The San Antonio Spurs will be well represented in Houston at the 2013 All-Star Game as Tony Parker and Matt Bonner will be playing during All-Star Saturday night.
Parker will be defending his Skills Competition title while Bonner will finally try his hand at the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. I guess the #letbonnershoot Twitter campaign paid off and Bonner sent his thanks to his fans:
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone who supported me in getting selected to compete in the Three-Point Contest.Words cannot express how excited and honored I am to be a part of this event. I will do my best! Thank you!
Here is the field for the 2013 NBA Three-Point Contest:
EASTERN CONFERENCE 2013 FOOT LOCKER
However, this year, the Three-Point shootout will feature a new twist which will surely raise the level on competition:
For the first time, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will feature a new format that pits the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference in a night of competition that will raise money for charity. As part of the new format, points earned by each conference throughout the four All-Star Skills Competitions will determine the conference that earns the title of 2013 State Farm All-Star Saturday Night Champion.Three players representing the Western Conference and three players representing the Eastern Conference will compete in the two-round competition. The highest scoring East and highest scoring West competitors from the Team Round will advance to the Championship Round. (Complete rules for the 2013 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and State Farm NBA All-Star Saturday Night attached).Five shooting stations will be set up around the three-point line, with four Official Spalding NBA game balls worth one point each and one Spalding NBA All-Star 2013 commemorative "money ball" worth two points at each location. Each player will have one minute to shoot as many balls as he can. The competitor with the lower individual score from the Team Round will go first in the Championship Round.
Aside from defending his Skills Competition title, Parker will also be playing on All-Star Sunday for the Western Conference team joining Tim Duncan. Coach Gregg Popovich will be coaching the West team as well.
Also, Kawhi Leonard will be participating in the Rising Stars challenge game and will be playing on Charles Barkley's team.
