According to The London Free Press, Austin Spurs forward Maurice Bolden has returned to the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada.
This will be Bolden’s fourth stint in Canada after playing 39 games for the Lightning in 2013-14. He returned to the Lightning in 2014-15, but only played in seven games before leaving to deal with family issues.
His third stint in Canada with the Windsor Express eventually put him on Austin’s radar, where the Spurs selected him 18th overall in the first round of the 2016 D-League draft.
In 26 games for the silver and black, Bolden averaged 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in limited minutes. Though he wasn’t a focal point of head coach Ken McDonald’s rotation, the experience was positive for Bolden.
“The D-League was awesome,” Bolden told The London Free Press. “It was a great experience especially being with the Spurs organization. “They are A-1 about everything. Everything is special. I really enjoyed being there. I learned a lot.”
The Lightning currently own the NBL’s best record at 28-5, with seven games left in their season and the playoffs about to begin.
