Week 12 gave us some solid games last week, especially with the Big 12/SEC Challenge finishing its last year with some surprises. Alabama got rocked by Oklahoma, West Virginia shocked Auburn, and Creighton steamrolled Xavier. We can only hope this Week 13 gives us some similar games. You can find some of the best ones of the week (hopefully) below.

How To Watch These College Basketball Games

Baylor vs Texas

  • When: Monday, January 30, 2023
  • Start Time: 9:00 PM ET
  • Location: Moody Center – Austin, Texas

Baylor vs Texas Preview

The Bears are coming off a huge win over Arkansas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge and look to take advantage of a reeling Texas team that lost to Tennessee. If Baylor can add to its six-game winning streak, it will also gain a full game on the Longhorns in the Big 12 standings.

Keyonte George was a scoring machine in that Arkansas win with 24 points. He’s likely going to have to replicate that to beat a Texas team that is allowing less than 68 points per game. Meanwhile, the Longhorns have some supreme athleticism in Dillon Mitchell, Timmy Allen, and Tyrese Hunter that could help them win the game.

Kansas State vs Kansas

  • When: Tuesday, January 31, 2023
  • Start Time: 8:00 PM ET
  • Location: Allen Fieldhouse – Lawrence, Kansas
  • How to watch: ESPN+/Big 12

Kansas State vs Kansas Preview

The Wildcats earned a convincing win over Florida in the Big 12/SEC Challenge while the Jayhawks got a nice win against Kentucky. The win over UK ended Kansas’ three-game losing streak. Of course, now they hope to get a streak going in the other direction and to avenge the overtime loss to K-State earlier this season.

Kansas State is looking to beat Kansas twice in a season for the first time since 1989. And it would be their first back-to-back wins over the Jayhawks since 1993-94. So it’s fair to say there is some history at stake for the Wildcats. This game should come down to a Jalen Wilson and Keyontae Johnson duel and it will likely not disappoint.

Providence vs Xavier

  • When: Wednesday, February 1, 2023
  • Start Time: 6:30 PM ET
  • Location: Cintas Center – Cincinnati, Ohio
  • How to watch:

Providence vs Xavier Preview

The Providence Friars have gotten some solid wins recently but could use a nice signature win. Beating Xavier would definitely apply here as they sit atop the Big East along with Providence at 9-2 (as of this writing). The Friars have beaten their last three opponents in Villanova, DePaul, and Butler.

Xavier has beaten UConn twice this season, so being able to the lord win over the Musketeers would be tremendous. Providence will have to keep the efficient Xavier offense from getting to its usual 83 points a game while Xavier will likely need to play better defense than it usually does if they want to win. This is an opportunity for X to give it to someone and so we’ll see if the Musketeers get back on the winning side of things after their loss to Creighton.

Kansas vs Iowa State

  • When: Saturday, February 4, 2023
  • Start Time: 12:00 PM ET
  • Location: James H. Hilton Coliseum – Ames, Iowa
  • How to watch: ESPN

Kansas vs Iowa State Preview

The Iowa State Cyclones have split their last six games 3-3 and need a win to keep pace atop the Big 12 standings. If Kansas comes into this game with a win over Kansas State, they’ll be vying for one of those top spots as well. So this game should hold some significance, even as an early February bout.

Iowa State is one of the stingier defenses in the country, allowing only 60.5 points per game. Meanwhile, Kansas is fairly high-scoring at 76 points per game. This game will likely come down to how well ISU plays Jalen Wilson on defense and if the guard play of ISU performs well.

Miami vs Clemson

  • When: Saturday, February 4, 2023
  • Start Time: 3:00 PM ET
  • Location: Littlejohn Coliseum – Clemson, South Carolina
  • How to watch: ACC Network

Miami vs Clemson Preview

Miami unfortunately lost a close game to Pittsburgh over the weekend, but still looks solid in the ACC with a 7-4 conference record. However, Clemson is sitting alone at the top with a 10-1 record after surviving a major scare from a bad FSU team. Clemson is playing some of its best ball and is deservedly ranked.

Despite the loss by Miami, they should give Clemson a nice challenge. The Tigers are pretty laden with upperclassmen across the roster while Miami mostly has Isaiah Wong and Jordan Miller. But those are two pretty great pieces for over 31 points a game.

Texas vs Kansas State

  • When: Saturday, February 4, 2023
  • Start Time: 4:00 PM ET
  • Location: Bramlage Coliseum – Manhattan, Kansas

Texas vs Kansas State Preview

The Big 12 as a whole has been superb this season, but these two teams have been excellent, even by those standards. Both teams are 6-2 (as of this writing) and so this could potentially decide who sits at the top of the conference alone.

Kansas State is coming off a thrashing of Florida while Texas took some lumps against Tennessee and its former coach in Rick Barnes. Both of these teams like to get up and down the floor as they score over 77 points a game each. Whoever is able to get some timely stops is likely the victor in this one.
