The Austin Toros completed a trade with the Sioux Falls Skyforce for Charlie Westbrook in exchange for Tre Kelley.
The Toros lose a capable point guard with veteran experience. Kelley has had a journeyman career, playing with teams overseas and with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Westbrook went undrafted in 2012 before being picked up by the Miami Heat in 2013. After playing in four preseason games for the Heat, even participating in their training camp, Westbrook (6’4’’, 196 lbs.) has played 10 games for the Skyforce. The shooting guard is averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals in over 23 minutes per game.
Through two seasons at University of South Dakota, Westbrook averaged 17.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 58 games. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native was named to the All-Summit League Second Team as a senior.
The Toros face the Texas Legends January 12th at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center. Visit austintoros.com or ticketmaster.com for ticket information.
