AUSTIN – The Austin Spurs announced that they have officially signed forward Cory Jefferson. D-League Digest was the first to report the news.

Jefferson was acquired by the Austin Spurs on a draft day trade that sent the Spurs 2017 first round draft pick to the Northern Arizona Suns in exchange for the forward.

After spending four years at Baylor, Jefferson was drafted with the 60th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. His rights were immediately traded to the Brooklyn Nets. In 50 games with Brooklyn, Jefferson averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in just 10 minutes per game.

Jefferson found himself on the Nets Summer League team before being waived in July. He spent last season between the Phoenix Suns and Bakersfield Jam, appearing in eight games for Phoenix before finishing the year with Bakersfield.

This summer, Jefferson would crack the Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League roster, and appeared in six preseason games with the Cavs, before being released.

Jefferson will wear number 40 as the Austin Spurs take on the Oklahoma City Blue this afternoon at 3 p.m. CST. You can catch the action live on the NBA D-League’s Facebook page.
