After a massive 116-82 win against the G-League Ignite on Friday, February 10th, the Austin Spurs will now remain at home in a game against the last place Birmingham Squadron. The Alabama side is 4-16 on the year and is struggling at the bottom of the Western Conference, while Austin improved to 6-12 with the win. The Spurs will hope that the double digit victory can help propel the team into a playoff push late into the season. This will be a game that Austin will feel they can win and hope to build momentum on as the season progresses. Tip-off for today’s game will be at 7:00 P.M. CST.

Austin Spurs Preview

Despite missing four of their key players, the Spurs still found a way to get a much needed win on Friday night. There was a major performance on the night from Tommy Kuhse, who had a career high 25 points off the bench. Kuhse has consistently been a spark plug off the bench for Austin this season, and usually puts up double digit points on a game by game basis. Jordan Murphy showed dominance on the board and managed to get a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Brandon Randolph had a solid 18 points. Even with a shorten roster due to injuries and various reasons, the Spurs showed a lot of fight in order to break out of a funk and get a much needed victory.

The key now for Austin is to continue this momentum. We have seen it time and time again this season that after a big win, the Spurs seem to not be able to capitalize on the opportunity and extend the winning streak. In order to make a real playoff push at this stage of the season, Austin will have to become more consistent, so will this be the time where this happens?

Birmingham Squadron Preview

The Squadron took a heavy loss at the hands of the Memphis Hustle on February 7th, and will look to get a victory over a team that is just right above them in the standings. Dereon Seabron is perhaps the best player in this team, and he has a great scoring ability as he showed in the loss to Memphis with 20 points. Forward Zylan Cheatham is also a threat on the boards and will give Austin a tough time in terms of dominating the paint. You also have a decent center in Feron Hunt who will help Cheatham on the boards and try to out-muscle Austin in this matchup.

Both teams are struggling to find success this season, but with a game that could make or break each team’s season, it will be a fie encounter that you surely don’t want to miss.
