Austin Spurs Preview

Austin bounced back in a massive way with a 106-98 win over Lakeland on Saturday, November 12th. With Charles Bassey lifted to the NBA squad, Austin had to find ways to put up the offense. On Saturday night they got just that, with Chaundee Brown Jr. putting up 28 points and five rebounds. They also had five other players with double-digit points and had a big debutant in former NBA star Kenneth Faried. The former Denver Nugget had six points and 12 rebounds against the Magic and looks to be a great veteran big man for Austin to have. The big league club will also be interested in Faried’s performances and how he fits into Austin’s system.

Another player who keeps performing at a high level for Austin is guard Jalen Adaway, who had 19 points on Saturday. The defense was much improved as well, only giving up 98 points to the Magic in a great team effort. They will now go against a very good Memphis Hustle team who is 2-1 on the year.

Memphis Hustle Preview

Memphis is looking to have a bounce-back win after dropping a game in Mexico City against the Capitanes. Despite the loss, there were still some impressive numbers on the scoresheet, with Kenneth Lofton Jr. having 27 points and six rebounds. Jacob Gilyard posted 14 points and four rebounds. While Memphis has been able to put up decent points during the season, they lack defensive qualities. Giving up over 100 points a game over the first three games, this is something that Memphis will be looking to improve on as the season goes on.

One of their more impressive wins was against Mexico City, which has former NBA stars Shabazz Napier and Jahlil Okafor on their roster. This shows that the Hustle does have some talent to win big ball games, and it will be a challenge for Austin at home to get a W.
